Thanks to the advent of the Intel-based Mac, I now have much more convenient access to Internet Explorer (and all its, er, quirks). This has made me a lot happier to take on web design projects in recent months, as it enables me to test my creations thoroughly and confidently.

As a designer, I am responsible for how pages look. For larger sites needing a Content Management System, I usually work in collaboration with a developer or with an off-the-shelf Content Management System, but for smaller low-maintenence sites, I'm totally self-propelled!

Hospital Records www.hospitalrecords.com
Hospital Records got on the web in the late 90s and stayed there. By late 2006, now with more than 100 releases in their catalogue and seven signed album artists, they had outgrown their site, and required a total redesign from scratch. Working with a developer, Joss from Alienhead, I comlpetely rebuilt their site, bringing it into the 21st century.
Fast forward two years to winter 2008, and a combination of changes at the label and a personal dissatisfaction with my redesign led to a further overhaul, tidying up elements, adding new features and making better use of the trend of wider screens in recent technology.
Alexandra Barker www.alexandra-b.co.uk
This is a small portfolio website for Fashion Designer Alexandra Barker. It includes automatically sliding galleries of her collections and portfolio work.
The galleries were made without Flash, for a nice, multi-platform friendly change!
Med School Music www.medschoolmusic.com
I have been involved with the art direction for Hospital Records' twisted sister label, Med School, since it was first concieved in 2006. By 2010, the label was coming into its own and was vastly outgrowing its home at the Hospital, needing its own website.
I designed and developed this website specifically for Med School, based on the popular CMS Wordpress. The site is central to a blog about goings-on with the label, but contains a trove of content on the label's releases so far. Nice!
Andrew J. Attah - Photographer www.andrewattah.com
Andrew Attah is a freelance photographic genius and friend of Hospital's, taking some of the most creative and smart photos in our corner of the music industry and beyond, from portraits to Cereal shootings and anything in between.
He already had the right idea himself of wanting to move his online portfolio away from Flash, and had found Indexhibit to base his site on. I helped tidy the design up and bring a bit of balance to the page, offering a nice fresh website that lets his photography do the talking.
Beta Recordings / John B www.beta-recordings.com
John B made an effort to step up his web game an wanted to revamp his sprawling collection of websites. He rebuilt them using wordpress and I was brought in to modify the themes to suit the Beta look.

This included cajoling the Beta identity out of its science student days and into a design with a mordern, slightly hardcore edge, with references to the cover artwork I have been doing for the label.

There are now several websites in the Beta group stable, most of which are accessable through the new splash pages I also designed for the Beta and John B websites.
JCT Translations www.jeremy-cloot.com
Here is a website for German-English / English-German technical/literary translator Jeremy Cloot.

It's a pretty straightforward site, which was the idea- no fuss!

The site has a nifty javascript language switcher on the site to change the language of the content without the need to reload, and to emphasise the concept of seamless translation.
A promotional website for Hospital Records' new upstart Mistabishi. A simple weblog given to Mistabishi to post on about whatever he likes, with a public commenting system to get people talking in anticipation of his album. Website was designed to compliment the album artwork also designed by me!
A fun feature of this site is the Swingometer- created in collaboration with Alienhead, this is a widget that makes a silly assumption about Mistabishi's mood by keeping track of how long it has been since he last posted.
Critical Music www.criticalmusic.com
After forging an identity for Critical Music, my attention was turned to the website, made to match. The idea was minimal and black, with injections of colour, to match the label's artwork.
This website was also developed with Alienhead, to manage the site's growing content.
Songs in the Key of Knife Publishing www.keyofknife.com
Website for small new music publishing firm 'Songs in the Key of Knife'. The site showcases the artists with works published, info about the publishing and a small MP3 player.
Hmm. Yellow! I have created a variety of weblogs on different platforms for all kinds of people, usually Artists in the music industry. They serve as a great platform for the blog owners to discuss whatever is on their mind, and share the discussion with their readers.
Here we can see the weblogs for London Elektricity and his multi-award winning podcast, a site to promote Logistics' new album Crash Bang Wallop!, High Contrast's blog of Imponderabilia, and a rather nice grid-based new weblog for myself.
